Scene Around Town: Wilkinson Center and Ascend Dallas

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s November 15 issue, I was pleased to share highlights from the 2nd Annual Pantry in the Park where co-chairs Laura Ailshire and Jenn and OJ DeSouza welcomed guests, who arrived to the “starry night sneaker soiree” in cocktail attire paired with their favorite sneakers. The event, presented by Celanese, benefited Wilkinson Center, a non-profit organization that empowers families to reach self-sufficiency. Also featured were scenes from Ascend Dallas who recently celebrated the launch of The Summit Society, a giving circle for individuals who donate $1,000 or more annually, with over 75 North Texas executives stepping up as inaugural members. The Summit Society members turn their shared passion into action to uplift and empower women throughout the year.
