Scene Around Town, Katy Trail Weekly (March 19, 2021)

As the Katy Trail Weekly’s Society Editor I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In the March 19-25 issue, I was pleased to spotlight on the Queen of Hearts Vintage Fashion Show and Afternoon Tea  presented by the Dallas Woman’s Forum Fashion and Style Department on Saturday, February 27. Special Guest Presenter Steven Porterfield of the Antiques Roadshow traveled from his home base in Midland, Texas to narrate this unique style show featuring fashions from 1950’s to 1980’s. Proceeds from this event benefited restoration of the Alexander Mansion which suffered severe damage in the recent snow storm. Also included in this issue were photos announcing the Annual Arts Performance Event featuring The Beach Boys. This concert will take place on May 1 and benefit Vogel Alcove, an early childhood education and Parent Opportunity Center that is working to Break the Cycle of Poverty for homeless children and their families in Dallas. will perform. Picnic meals and open bar will be provided by Wolfgang Puck Catering. Lastly, I profiled 4word’s recent Virtual Gala which celebrated the organization’s awesome 10-year history and featured a stimulating conversation between two legends, Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton and former-celebrity-sports-agent-turned-business-coach, Molly Fletcher. The virtual fundraiser benefited 4word’s mission to help women in the workplace reach their God-given potential with confidence.
