Scene Around Town: The Stewpot Alliance and Folds of Honor
As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s March 7 issue, I’m featuring scenes from the 17th annual Soup’s On Luncheon and Art Show benefiting The Stewpot which featured an art show, soups by local celebrity chefs, and featured speaker Nicholas Kristof, all of which were thoughtfully woven together in celebration of The Stewpot’s 50th anniversary. Since 2008, Soup’s On has raised more than $5 million for homeless and at-risk individuals in Dallas. Also highlighted are scenes from Folds of Honor North Texas Annual Gala where supporters celebrated the organization with an evening of patriotic inspiration, personal testimonies and stirring presentations. Since 2007, Folds of Honor has provided educational scholarships to the families of military men and women who have fallen or been disabled while on active duty in the United States armed forces.
