Scene Around Town: Dec My Room and AWARE
As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s August 2 issue, I was pleased to share highlights from Dec My Room’s North Texas Chapter, who celebrated its highly anticipated sixth annual Room to Grow Luncheon and Fashion Presentation on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, Funds benefit benefiting Dec My Room, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of children who are being admitted into a hospital for a prolonged amount of time. Also featured were scenes from AWARE’s annual gala. Themed Boots,Buckles & BrainHealth, this year's AWARE Affair gala raised funds to fight Alzheimer's disease by providing funding and support to programs, projects, and research provided by nonprofit organizations that actively help individuals affected by Alzheimer's in Dallas and thegreater North Texas area.
