Scene Around Town: Dallas Arboretum and Ascend Dalllas

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s June 28 issue, I was pleased to share highlights from the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden who recently held its annual Friends Blooms Dinner. This dinner honors Friends of the Arboretum and Caroline Rose Hunt Society patrons, a distinguished group of garden donors who annually support the garden’s ongoing horticulture, education and research efforts. Also featured were scenes from Ascend Dallas, formerly known as WiNGS, who unveiled its new name during the annual "Pop, Fizz, Clink!" fundraiser chaired by Dr. Tiffany Mood and Dr. Jessica Shepherd. The organization’s new name better reflects the character of its clients and its commitment to empowering community members to reach new heights across the region.
