Scene Around Town: Dec My Room, KidneyTexas and Preservation Park Cities
As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s May 20 issue, I was pleased to spotlight photos featuring highlights from the fourth annual Room to Grow Luncheon and Fashion Presentation on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 in the beautiful Neiman Marcus Courtyard at NorthPark Center. Co-chairs Dawn Greiner and Terra Najork Peterson were joined by a sold-out crowd of 280 at the annual fundraiser, which benefits Dec My Room, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of children who are hospitalized for a prolonged period of time by decorating their hospital room.
ALso featured are photos from KidneyTexas, Inc. March Spring Tea where they announced the Luncheon and Fashion Show logo, theme, honorary chairs. Slated for Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, the event will feature a formal floor level fashion presentation produced by Jan Strimple Productions. The event will also includes live and silent auctions and will be topped off with a delicious luncheon. Scott Murray is returning as emcee. Lastly, the Preservation Park Cities 2022 Car Show presented A Conversation with Collectors hosted by The Shop with appetizers provided by The Derby and featured three speakers, including Dan McKeithen, who is the current and founding chair of the Preservation Park Cities Car Show along with his wife, Polly McKeithen, and speakers Nolan Eberl from Hagerty and Al Kroemer, Regional Director, Classic Car Club of America, Texas Region. Funds support Preservation Park Cities mission to celebrate and promote the preservation of Park Cities architecture, history, aesthetics, and cultural traditions.
