Scene Around Town: The Concilio, Recovery Resource Council, and Nasher Sculpture Center
As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s October 30 issue, I was pleased to spotlight photos featuring highlights from The Concilio who recently hosted the 2022 Big Dreams Gala presented by Santander in celebration of its 40th anniversary. The event raised $227,000 to support the Dallas nonprofit continue to build stronger communities by unlocking opportunities for Latino families. As part of their OrangeLove program, Maverick Fitness, owner of 34 Orangetheory Fitness studios in North Texas, recently presented Recovery Resource Council with $5000 to help support their work in addiction recovery. Lastly, the Nasher Sculpture Center recently announced Senga Nengudi as winner of the 2023 Nasher Prize. This American Artist will receive $100,000 in recognition of her outstanding contributions to sculpture.
