Scene Around Town, Katy Trail Weekly (August 20, 2021)
As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s August 13-19 issue, I was pleased to spotlight Rainbow Days recent 24th annual Pot of Gold Luncheon at the Omni Dallas Hotel Dallas Ballroom. Around 500 supporters and guests gathered to raise a grand total of $232,185 for Rainbow Days. Founded in 1982, Rainbow Days has a mission to help children and youth in adversity build coping skills and resilience to create positive futures. Through support groups, life enrichment programs and critical needs services, Rainbow Days makes meaningful connections with at-risk and homeless children and youth and has positively impacted more than 234,000 kids in the Dallas area to date. Cocktail dresses were the attire for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League’s Debutante Casino Party held at the Pavilion at the Belo Mansion on July 31. The Debs, Honor Guard, and their families had dinner, casino games, and dancing with the rocking music played by DJ Mark Anthony. The Debutantes will make their debut at the 36th Annual Presentation Ball which will take place on February 12, 2022, at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center.
