Scene Around Town, Katy Trail Weekly (October 1, 2021)

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s Sept. 24 issue, I was pleased to spotlight photos from the Perot Museum of Nature and Science who promises an evening of show-stopping surprises at their annual fundraising soiree – Night at the Museum – returning on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021. The evening will launch a much-anticipated celebration of community impact, through a year-long series of special events, culminating in a 10-year anniversary extravaganza in 2022. Longtime supporters Karen and Alan Katz, Lindsay and George Billingsley and Talene and Hagop Kozanian will serve as Night at the Museum chairs. On September 18, 2021, the One Unified Resource Foundation, Inc. (OUR Foundation), presented its annual Men's Brunch at Lofty Spaces. The theme for the occasion was "Men About Culture", with the tagline "Return of the M.A.C." The mission of the brunch was to encourage, empower and pamper men who continuously strive to be exceptional leaders in the community. Lastly, community philanthropist Jimmy Westcott will serve as Honorary Chair for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League 8th Annual Fashion Notes Design Award and Style Show. The event co-chairs are good friends Kameron Westcott and Samantha Wortley. This will be a family affair since Kameron is married to Jimmy’s son, Court Westcott, which makes Jimmy her mother-in-law. The fundraiser will be held on Thursday, October 21, at Fairmont Dallas.
