Knox Henderson's Newest Dining Destination: LOCAL Public Eatery

LOCAL Public Eatery (or LPE) recently opened in Dallas’ Knox-Henderson neighborhood. This marks the first Texas location for LPE's fun and relaxed pub concept from Canadian hospitality group JOEY, which opened its sister concept JOEY Restaurants at NorthPark Center earlier this year. The relaxed pub concept offers 7,144-square-foot of space adorned with hand-picked artwork and sports memorabilia accompanied by cozy area rugs and eclectic decor, creating an eye-catching design that seamlessly blends modern aesthetics with rustic charm. In the middle of the restaurant you’ll find a massive beer board that lists what beers are pouring and doubles as a screen for viewing key sports events. Complete with an indoor lounge and central bar, dining area, open kitchen and spacious covered patio, LPE is poised to become an ideal drinking and dining destination for Dallas residents, local businesses and visitors alike.

According to the press release I was provided, “Regional Chef Oliver Lewis (has created) an ever evolving, flavorful menu of comfort food classics and innovative bites. From craveable LOCAL Fried Chicken and Fully Loaded Crispy Potatoes to the LOCAL Burger and mains such as the BBQ Rice Bowl and Steak & Fries, LPE provides thoughtfully curated food selections full of fresh, high-quality ingredients. The neighborhood hangout will also offer a unique selection of pizzas, like the Pepperoni Supremo, a delicious result of the LPE culinary team’s recent market research trip to Italy."

On my visit we started the meal with a delicious SMOKED TROUT DIP. A creamy, rich dip with smoked trout, caramelized onion & lemon, topped with fresh dill, olive oil, and cracked black pepper served with kettle chips. My entire party was fighting for bites. Highly recommend. My son also ordered a started of HOT WINGS with blue cheese dip that had him sweating from the heat - in the best way. Moving on to the main course, we ordered the SPICY SALAMI PIZZA for the table to share made with Spianata salami, calabrian chili infused san marzano tomato sauce, spianata salami, piquillo peppers, mozzarella, pecorino romano. I wouldn’t order this again due to an almost complete lack of sauce. And if there were piquillo peppers on there, I didn’t see them. It was very lackluster. On our server’s recommendation, I ordered the PEARL COUSCOUS SALAD. The bowl was coated in a layer of hummus, then filled with greens, Piquillo peppers, casteltrevano olives, almonds and crispy chickpeas. I added Blackened Chicken becasue the only way I can really enjoy a salad is with a protein. Aubrey did not steer me wrong, the bowl was delicious but the chicken was dry, which was a disappointment. My son loved the THE DIABLO BURGER made with Cheddar, jack cheese, hot sauce, pickled jalapeños and onions, and my husband went with STEAK & FRIES which was a grilled 5oz CAB® sirloin with dijon peppercorn sauce and fries.

LPE’s release shared that “in addition to fresh fare, they take pride in its equally impressive bar program. The intentional beverage menu includes local draft beers, wine and hand-crafted cocktails like the Spicy Guava Margarita, Texas Mule and Aperol Crush.” I really enjoyed the START ME UP made with Baileys, Kahlua, vodka and coffee on ice. “Patrons can also enjoy group activities for the whole table with drink options such as the Porron, an entire bottle of wine in a pourable pitcher served sans glasses, as well as Espresso Mar-Tinys, shot-sized espresso martinis, and Cold Tea, a pot of Jameson infused tea for an unforgettable experience,” they state.

Overall, my family gave LPE two thumbs way up. You can check out the Reel I shared on Facebook HERE. We loved the indoor/outdoor vibe, pet-friendly patio, and the variety of menu options provided. In fact, I’ve already made a reservation to visit them again later this week with a girlfriend! Reservations can be made through LOCAL Public Eatery’s website. Tell them I sent you!
