The Dallas Download: Week of February 10, 2025

Welcome to The Dallas Download—your weekly dose of what’s happening around town. Every day, my inbox overflows with press releases announcing the latest restaurant and retail openings, invites to must-attend galas and parties, and previews to the latest exhibits and attractions. From food to fashion, reality TV to movie premiers, cultural events to celebrity sightings, this city is happening and I’m here to dish out the most noteworthy updates and juicy tidbits landing on my desk. I’m also sharing the piping hot tea from local outlets that I consider buzz-worthy.

Consider this your curated roundup of what’s happening in Dallas this week.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

All ANYONE has been talking about is the imminent opening of Cafe Dior at Highland Park Village. At last we have news from CultureMap who reported earlier this week that “Cafe Dior by Dominique Crenn will open on February 22. The Cafe will reside inside the recently-opened Dior store at 58 Highland Park Village, with a menu overseen by Michelin-starred chef Dominique Crenn.

Crenn is a native of France who became the first female chef in the U.S. to achieve three Michelin stars, at her San Francisco restaurant Atelier Crenn. She has also earned accolades such as coming in at No. 10 on Robb Report's 50 Most Powerful People in American Fine Dining, James Beard Awards, and appearances on multiple TV shows including The Next Iron Chef, Chef’s Table, and Top Chef France.”

While every news outlet in town has been dripping out info about the Cafe’s opening for months, it was actually my new favorite influencer, Chris Kahle, who gave us the REAL NEWS via his IG Reel that reservations can now be made on Seven Rooms (although all available reservations have been booked through March - but keep checking back!)

RETAIL

Now THIS is the best news I heard all week! The Dallas Morning News reports that “a company with brands that include Anthropologie is eyeing North Texas for a new store concept featuring overstock or retired items.

Urban Outfitters Inc., or URBN, is planning a site for a “Reclectic” site in Arlington that would be among a handful of locations across the country, according to its website. The store is “coming soon” though it didn’t give any specifics.

The assortment at Reclectic skews heavily toward women’s clothing and accessories. Most sites carry a small assortment of men’s and home products even as inventory levels vary.

The store, which offers discounts, uses a basic approach with no fitting rooms — and all sales being final.”
