Scene Around Town: Texas Woman’s University and Jonathan’s Place

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s April 18 issue, I’m featuring scenes from Texas Woman’s University who recently hosted their annual Dallas Leadership Luncheon where the university recognized Nicole Small as the 2025 Virginia Chandler Dykes Leadership Award recipient. Photos by Leo Gonzalez/Texas Woman’s University. Also featured were highlights from Jonathan’s Place who hosted its annual “A Chance to Soar” Luncheon on March 14, with actress and activist Bellamy Young as the speaker moderated by former Mavs CEO Cynt Marshall. Funds will support Jonathan’s Place’s mission of providing a safe place, loving homes, and promising futures for abused and neglected children, teens, and young adults.
