Scene Around Town: Dallas Arboretum and Junior League of Dallas

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s May 31 issue, I was pleased to share highlights from the 36th Annual Mad Hatter’s Luncheon, themed Gardens of Greece, which welcomed a sold-out crowd earning a net of $314,496 benefiting the Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden and A Woman’s Garden. Also featured were scenes from the 11th annual Women LEAD Speech Competition and Awards Ceremony where Junior League of Dallas recently awarded $40,000 in collegiate scholarships to 10 college-bound women from Dallas ISD. Since the program began, the League has awarded 72 scholarships totaling $345,000 to female seniors from these three area high schools.
