Scene Around Town: Fernie's Funnel Cake and Les Dames d'Escoffier

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s September 29 issue, I was pleased to spotlight photos featuring highlights from Fernie’s Funnel Cakes, an enduring fixture at the State Fair of Texas for more than five decades, who just launched Fernie’s Funnel Cake Cream, a sumptuous wine-based cocktail inspired by their iconic carnival delight. The brand recently held a private party at the Briscoe Carpenter Livestock Center on the Fair Park grounds to debut the product to friends and family. You can try it at any of their five stands located throughout the State Fair of Texas Sept. 29-Oct. 22 or purchase a bottle at a retailer near you. Also featured are scenes from Fletcher's Original Corny Dogs who recently hosted members of Les Dames d'Escoffier for a pre-State Fair networking experience on September 21 on the Fair Park grounds. The organization of women leaders creates a supportive culture in our community to achieve excellence in the food, fine beverage and hospitality fields.
