Scene Around Town: Ronald McDonald House, Folds of Honor, and Mizzen + Main

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s September 2 issue, I was pleased to spotlight photos featuring highlights from Folds of Honor North Texas who kicked-off its 2022 gala with a celebration hosted by Monica and Joe Eastin in their lovely Preston Hollow home. The evening was in support of Folds of Honor and its mission to provide educational scholarships to the spouses and children of military members who have fallen or been disabled while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Also featured were scenes from Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD) who brought its annual Under the Moonlight Gala back in-person with colorfully-clad revelers for Bajo La Luz De La Luna. Supporters gathered at sunset for the gala’s triumphal post-COVID return to raise funds for RMHD, a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children who travel to Dallas seeking medical treatment in area hospitals. Lastly, I featured images from Mizzen+Mains ten-year anniversary celebration held at the brands West Village store. Founder and Chairman Kevin Lavelle, the Dallas-based creator of the world’s first performance fabric dress shirt, toasted friends, family, and supporters to toast the past ten years and celebrate what’s to come.
