Scene Around Town: CC Young, #LiveLikeLuke and Family Compass
As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s August 5 issue, I was pleased to spotlight photos featuring highlights from CC Young Senior Living who recently capped off its “100 Years in 100 Days” centennial celebration with a roaring 20s-themed extravaganza at The Point at CC Young. Sports celebrities gathered to support former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Babe Laufenberg and honor the memory of his son Luke who passed in 2019, at the age of 21, of Burkitt’s leukemia. Donations raised through the #LiveLikeLuke event will benefit the Luke Laufenberg FIGHT fund. And lastly, scenes from the 4th annual North Star Luncheon presented by NorthDallas Bank & Trust featuring speaker Elizabeth Smart were included. Funds will support Family Compass' mission to build healthy families and a strong North Texas community by preventing child abuse and neglect.
