Scene Around Town: Children's Cancer Fund and Cancer Support Community

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s June 10 issue, I was pleased to spotlight photos featuring highlights from Cancer Support Community North Texas who (after two COVID postponements ) celebrated its 20th anniversary at the organization’s 2nd Annual Red Tie Gala on Friday, April 29 at the Empire Room. More than 250 people danced, ate and bid to support the organization late into the night. Also featured was the Children’s Cancer Fund Gala “Color Out Cancer” presented by Amazon on Friday, April 22 at the Hilton Anatole Dallas. Honorary Chairs Roger Staubach & Troy Aikman, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, and Amazon CEO of Worldwide Consumer Dave Clark joined cancer patients, survivors, their families and celebrities for a fashion show, dinner and dancing. The evening and its generous donors raised more than $1.5 million to support pediatric cancer research and treatment programs at Children's Health and UT Southwestern.

I encourage you to pick up the latest issue of the Katy Trail Weekly complete with community news, articles by local experts, event and restaurant info, puzzles, and more for FREE each week! Where?
