Scene Around Town: Pajamas for Seniors, a new Knoll at the Arboretum and Bryan's House expands

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s April 15 issue, I was pleased to spotlight photos featuring highlights from Lone Star Monarchs who, in collaboration with Rustic Cuff, presented Pajamas for Seniors with over $101,500+ in donations of cash and new adult pajamas in support of its upcoming Easter Event 2022 benefiting low-income seniors living in nursing homes and assisted living.

Also featured is a nod to a new spot at the Dallas Arboretum called Nancy’s Knoll. Located at the top of the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn, Nancy’s Knoll is a new extension of the Friends Terrace created to accommodate more seating areas for the Cool Thursday’s Concert series, as well as additional areas for the public and private events rentals.  This project was donated by Ruthie and Jay Pack, in honor of Ruthie’s mother, Nancy Rutchik and her birthday.

Bryan’s House has launched a new initiative that will help keep medically fragile, at-risk children in six North Texas counties safe, as it delivers on its mission to the public at the same time. The new innovation lab is at Work214, and Bryan’s House will have a five-desk dedicated work space for a six-month period that begins this month. This new, off-campus hybrid work model will allow staff to host trainings, team workshops, partner agency meetings and more in a unique co-working location in Uptown Dallas. The pilot initiative was funded by gifts from donors Sarah Losinger and Rust E. Reid.
