Scene Around Town, Katy Trail Weekly (Jan. 22, 2021)

I recently joined the Katy Trail Weekly as their new Society Editor and am overseeing the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit events each week. Due to the pandemic, in-person events have not been happening with the prolific nature that we are used to, so we are expanding our photo coverage to include "events" on a broader scale such as acts of volunteerism, golf tournaments, coat drives, food donations, community outreach, etc. Anything that ties to a nonprofit or good works in the community will be considered. In the January 22-28 issue, I was pleased to spotlight acts of volunteerism from Recovery Resource Council, Dallas Junior Forum, and Community Partners of Dallas.

Have a charitable event you’d like to submit? Here’s what you need to email me:

  • Events will be featured in either 2 shots, 4 shots or 8 shots. It’s better to have too much to choose from than not enough, so send what you have!

  • Horizontal shots are preferred. If you send me vertical shots, just know that they will be cropped to horizontal

  • No repeats (unless it is a celebrity and then maybe 2 shots with the same person)

  • You must ID the people in each photo (left to right)

  • Tell me the name of the event and the location of where it was held

  • Please send one event submission per email. If you have three events to submit, send me 3 different emails

You can grab the latest issue of the Katy Trail Weekly complete with community news, articles by local experts, event and restaurant info, and more for FREE each week! Where?
